puerilisgoetia: (Malthus: disguise)
Malthus: blah blah leadership and confidence
-Although Malthus shows signs of good ideas early on, he balks under pressure and doesn't like the idea of being in charge. Over time he learns how to be calm and take command without backing down due to fear.

Leraje: blah blah opening up and expressing feelings
-Leraje hides his real feelings with a smile, even from the other demons. When that causes a problem with both humans and demons (big problem!) he learns that admitting weakness and negative feelings is natural.

Paimon: blah blah trust and friendliness
-Paimon keeps to himself much of the time, allowing the others to handle battles and barely working with them outside of combat. Gradually he's convinced that other people are worthy of respect and that he can accomplish more and be happier if he works alongside them, though he's still fairly reserved.

Barbas: blah blah teamwork and appreciating his talents
-Barbas's talents don't lend themselves naturally to combat, but he's always throwing himself into battle and getting hurt. He learns that he can contribute to the team effort and have a part in their success without trying to do things that he's not suited for, and that his own talents are worthwhile.

Aim: blah blah honesty vs white lies
-Aim is naturally bad at lying to his summoners and to anyone. This is a problem for a demon hiding among humans. Over the course of the story, he becomes better able to fool others, and in the end is able to tell a lie in order to protect the other demons. (Yeah I know his moral sucks. I'll come up with something else for him too.)

"The way I see it," Malthus begins, stretching out a wing, "we have a few options when it comes to our human disguises." The others look like they're listening to him - Aim even has all three heads pointed in his direction - so he goes on. "If we choose to take on the form of adults, we'll be expected to take on jobs. Otherwise, being able to provide for ourselves will be suspicious, and none of us want to live that cheaply, do we?"

Paimon shakes his head. "Our self-control is already being tested. Why provide more difficulties for ourselves?"

"Exactly. And if we take forms old enough that they wouldn't be working, we'd be too limited in moving around human society. But if we took the forms of children, our only requirement would be to go to school. If we allowed no one to enter our house, then no one would be the wiser that we had no adult human with us," Malthus says. "Children are often ignored in human society, so we would be able to move secretly."

"One of us could take an adult form," Leraje says, one hand on his hip. "Paimon and I already look human enough, besides the camel."

Aim speaks from his cat head. "Are you willing to pretend to parent any of us, Leraje?"

Leraje stays silent for a moment, before admitting, "Not exactly."

"You would not know the beginnings of how to seem to raise children. I would simply have no patience for it." Paimon turns back to Malthus. "Your idea is sound. I propose that we take the forms of human children for our stay on Earth. Are there further objections?"

None of them contradict him, perhaps because he is the highest-ranked demon in the room by far.

"So let's get on with it," says Barbas. "It's not like we'll be stuck like this for that long."

"...I wonder about that." Still, Malthus takes a moment to decide the basics of his new form, and transforms.

Malthus
Normally in the shape of a stork, Malthus is now in the form of a human boy. He can create weapons and ammunition, as well as barriers and shields against an enemy. He is awkward at speaking to others, and is determined in all things, including succeeding in the difficult situation he’s gotten into. The unofficial leader.

Leraje
Leraje is a demon who has not yet given up the habit of always wearing green, even in a young boy’s form. He is a skilled archer, and his arrows cause gangrene wounds when they strike true. He puts on a good show of being noble-spirited and gallant, particularly towards girls as that’s how he thinks human boys act... it’s hard to tell exactly how much of that is an farce.

Paimon
Though his normal form is of a man who rides a camel, Paimon chooses to take the form of a young girl for his disguise. His powers include creating familiars, controlling wind and water, and commanding others. His interests are mostly towards studying the knowledge of Earth, and he socializes even less than the other demons. Though he is technically the highest-ranking demon present, he has no interest in leading.

Barbas
Originally in the form of a lion, Barbas now takes the shape of a boy. His powers include causing or curing diseases, changing others’ shapes, and controlling mechanical objects. Like a lion, he is brave - sometimes verging into recklessness, as his powers are often the least combat-oriented of the group and the least able to take out a monster without help.

Aim
Once a demon with three heads - a serpent, a man, and a cat - Aim now only has one head in his disguise as a human boy. He summons and controls fire to a great degree, and is the strongest of the group physically. Cheerful in disposition, he takes great pride in his quick wit, but finds it difficult to outright lie and is having a great deal of trouble pretending to be human.
